Loft Conversions, Renovations and Preservation
Chile is blessed with some beautiful architecture. Valparaiso, in particular, is a stunningly beautiful city with some incredible old mansions and buildings, constructed at a time when the city was one of the most important ports in the world.
Unfortunately, much of this architecture is under threat from neglect and a long-term lack of care for Valparaiso.
There is, however, a growing movement towards preservation and the city is currently undergoing rapid changes and gentrification as it reinvents itself as a major tourist destination.
In Valparaiso, there have already been a number of loft conversion projects and more are planned. It is clear that the global trend to restore and preserve architecturally and culturally important city centres has finally reached Chile.
One aspect that loft conversion projects in Valparaiso have had in common up until this point in time is a clear lack of quality. Projects have been undertaken with small budgets and little thought to quality. At Pacific Five, we strongly believe that there is a market for high quality loft conversions that has yet to be exploited. The loft “concept” has already been introduced to the Chilean market; it is now time to introduce the idea of the “luxury loft”, offering quality similar to that available in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, London, Sydney and countless other cities around the world that have embraced the “loft lifestyle”.
We are experienced in the renovation of older properties, having worked in this field in both Argentina and Chile. At present, we are personally involved in the preservation and conversion of historically important buildings in Valparaiso.
